Wattle and daub is the name of a technology for making a wall, when you have nothing around but mud and sticks. You weave/tangle the sticks together in the form of the wall you want, then smear on mud (mixed with grass, or hair, if you have it). Let it dry and you have your wall, a wonderful use of the materials at hand. This is the kind of thing we all need to do more of.
